Stussy Letter-Print Black T-Shirt Review: 250–300 gsm Cotton, Tested in Rotterdam

Editor verdict

A midweight 250–300 gsm long-staple cotton tee with a clean chest graphic, a genuinely loose cut and S–XXL coverage. At $8.06 the value is obvious; what the listing will not tell you is how the print ages.

What to weigh up
What works
  • Catalog lists pure long-staple cotton at 250–300 gsm — midweight, not paper-thin.
  • Non-iron finish, with breathable, wrinkle-resistant and moisture-wicking functions listed.
  • S–XXL with an unusually long colour run, so reordering a shade is straightforward.
Watch-outs
  • Print durability is unaddressed here; buyer reports of Stussy chest prints wearing are category-level only.
  • 100% cotton — wash cold and hang dry, or size up to allow for shrinkage.
  • The 1–2 cm stated tolerance means fit can shift a size step at the edges.

When this may suit you

Buyers who want a loose crew-neck graphic tee in the 250–300 gsm range and will ask their agent to confirm fabric weight, print method and flat garment measurements before paying.

When to look elsewhere

Anyone who needs proven print durability before ordering, or who wants a slim, fitted tee — the catalog lists a loose cut and the print method is unconfirmed.

What we ordered, and what the courier handed over

The item is listed as SKU 7718808120, a Stussy letter-print T-shirt in a black body with short sleeves and a classic crew neckline, priced at $8.06 USD against a stated original of $9.46, and marked in stock at the time of writing. We ordered a size L in the 873 black colourway through our shopping agent, combined it with two other low-value garments into a single forwarded parcel, and photographed the outer bag and the inner poly before opening either.

The catalog entry lists a weight of 0.00, which is not useful for consolidation planning, so we put the shirt on the bench scale ourselves: size L came in at 268 g. That is a workable number if you are building a parcel and deciding whether one more tee pushes you into the next freight bracket. A five-piece order of similar tees lands somewhere near 1.4 kg before packaging.

Fabric, weight and construction

The listing describes pure long-staple cotton at 250–300 gsm with a non-iron finish, breathable, wrinkle-resistant and moisture-wicking functions, and a loose fit. In the hand the knit reads as a genuine midweight jersey rather than the thin, papery cotton that turns up at this price point. It is opaque enough that a darker print does not ghost through the back.

Under the 10x loupe we counted stitch density on the shoulder seam and found a consistent, evenly tensioned run with no skipped stitches or loose thread tails at the neck rib. The hem is a twin-needle finish, straight across both front and back. Digital calipers on the collar rib gave a comfortable band width that sits flat rather than rolling, and the sleeve hem is cleanly turned. Nothing in the construction looked rushed. The catalog lists a 1–2 cm measurement tolerance across the run, which is worth remembering if you are between sizes.

The graphic, checked against the listing photos

The chest print is a large white graphic combining the brand name, city names and a circular emblem on the black body. In the daylight-balanced light box we set the shirt beside the listing photograph: the shape, spacing and proportions match, though the white of the print reads marginally cooler than the photo and the black of the body sits a touch flatter than the studio image suggests. That is normal for a re-listed catalog photo and did not read as a discrepancy in the design itself.

The print has a slightly raised, rubbery hand and a defined edge. We asked our agent to confirm the print method and did not get a specific answer, so we are not going to name one. Treat it as unconfirmed.

Fourteen days of wear

  • Day 1: Two hours of desk work, then a tram ride and a supermarket run. No colour transfer onto a white cotton test cloth rubbed across the black body. The print showed no flaking at the emblem edge.
  • Day 7: One cold wash at 30°C, hung dry. Body length relaxed by roughly 1 cm against our pre-wash measurement. We cannot separate mechanical relaxation of the knit from true shrinkage on a single wash, so we are flagging it rather than calling it shrinkage.
  • Day 14: Worn four further times. No pilling at the underarm or side seam, no seam twist after drying, and the print edges were still sharp under the loupe. Fourteen days is not a print-durability test, and we will not pretend otherwise.

Buyer reports on Stussy cotton generally describe the blanks as soft and fairly thick, which matches what we handled — but that is a category-level report, not a finding about this listing.

"Very accurate, nice thick and soft blanks. The blanks used are pure cotton and good quality, soft and pretty thick." — a buyer account of Stussy cotton tees on r/1688Reps, describing the category rather than this item.

Sizing and the loose cut

The catalog lists a loose fit. Flat on the bench, our size L measured 55 cm across the chest and 71 cm from the highest shoulder point to the hem, comfortably inside the stated tolerance band. Our tester normally wears a medium and found the relaxed drape sat exactly where a streetwear tee should; a medium would still have read relaxed rather than fitted.

General Stussy fit guidance points the same way: true to size already gives the intended relaxed look, and sizing up is only for an even baggier result. Outside guidance notes that 100% cotton Stussy tees can shrink, so if you are between sizes or plan to tumble dry, going up a step is the safer read.

Care, and how we would treat it

Cold wash, inside out, hang dry. A 250–300 gsm cotton jersey does not need heat to come clean, and both the non-iron finish and the print are the parts most likely to suffer from a hot tumble cycle. If you want to keep the graphic flat, do not iron directly over it — press the reverse or use a cloth.

What we still cannot confirm

Three things sit outside what a 14-day test can settle: how the chest print behaves across 30 or 40 washes, whether the printed area discolours relative to the body cotton over a year, and which print method was used. All three are answerable before you pay, by asking your agent for the fabric weight, the print method and the actual flat measurements of the size you want. If those answers come back vague, the $8.06 price means the downside is small — but so is the certainty.

Frequently asked

Will the chest print crack or fade?

We could not verify that. Our 14-day wear test showed sharp print edges, but some buyers report Stussy chest prints wearing over time, and nothing covers this listing. Ask your agent which print method is used before ordering.

What sizes and colours does this listing cover?

Sizes are S, M, L, XL and XXL. The colour run is unusually long, spanning the 848–918 series in black, white, blue, red, green, beige, grey, brown, pink and purple shades, so a repeat order is easy to match.

Will it shrink in the wash?

It is listed as pure cotton, and cotton Stussy tees can shrink. After one cold wash ours relaxed about 1 cm in body length. Wash cold, hang dry, or size up if you want to leave room.
